  • 1 lb sirloin steak, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 tsp dried rosemary
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

For the Mashed Potatoes:

  • 4 medium potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup milk (or dairy-free alternative)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

Instructions

Prepare the Mashed Potatoes:

  1. Boil the potatoes in a large pot of salted water until tender, about 15–20 minutes.
  2. Drain the potatoes and mash them using a potato masher or ricer.
  3. Stir in the butter, milk, salt, and pepper until smooth and creamy. Set aside.

Cook the Steak Bites: 4. Season the steak pieces generously with salt and pepper. 5. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. 6. Cook steak bites in batches, ensuring they are evenly spaced for a good sear. Cook each batch for about 2–3 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.

Prepare the Garlic Butter Sauce: 7. In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium and melt the butter. 8. Add minced garlic, thyme, and rosemary. Cook for 1–2 minutes until fragrant. 9. Return the steak bites to the skillet, tossing them to coat in the sauce.

Serve: 10. Plate the mashed potatoes and top them with the steak bites. 11. Drizzle the remaining garlic butter sauce over the dish. 12. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired and serve immediately.
